Adolescent Counselling

Adolescents are neither children nor adults. They need a specialist approach. I have a three-year training from the Institute for the Arts in Therapy and Education, London, in psychotherapeutic counselling for adolescents. I have many years’ experience of therapeutic work with young people, including for Connexions, and as a Counsellor for YPI Basingstoke, a Hampshire secondary school and sixth form college. My qualifications and experience enable me to engage and work effectively with all issues that trouble older children and teenagers.

Examples of issues I have experience of working with include: anxiety and depression, self harm, suicidal thoughts and attempts, trauma and dissociation, identity, self esteem, being bullied or bullying, anger and emotional outbursts, autistic spectrum conditions, ADD/ADHD, learning difficulties, physical health conditions, young carers, sexuality and gender, including several young transgender clients.

I have a up-to-date enhanced adult and child DBS check and up-to-date safeguarding training.
